  5. Q:  How should I configure QEMM-386 or DESQview 386 to run on my 
  6.     Toshiba 5100 (or 5200)?

  9. QEMM-386 can be used as an expanded memory manager on the Toshiba 5100 or 
  10. 5200, but may require some changes in the default configuration of the 
  11. Toshiba.
  12.  
  13. Under the default configuration, the Toshiba 5100 does not have any 
  14. extended memory, but actually has expanded memory hardware and an 
  15. expanded memory driver.  If your Toshiba's memory is configured as 
  16. expanded, QEMM-386 will not see any extended memory to map and refuse to 
  17. load, or will not work properly.

  19. To set the machine up properly, run the Toshiba Setup utility and 
  20. configure 640K of base memory and the rest of the memory as extended 
  21. memory.  There should be no expanded memory configured.

  23. Once the hardware has been set up so that all of the memory above 640K is 
  24. extended memory, edit the CONFIG.SYS file on the machine and remove the 
  25. expanded memory driver if one is being loaded.  This file will probably 
  26. be called EMM.SYS or EMM386.SYS, but you may want to consult your Toshiba 
  27. manual to be sure.

  29. After the expanded memory driver has been removed, you may run the QEMM-
  30. 386 Install program to install QEMM-386 and it should be able to operate 
  31. properly on the machine for DESQview and other programs that might 
  32. require EMS 4.0 memory.
